Without a Home

In a suffering economy, Americans aren’t the only ones feeling the effects of a financial downturn. Across the country, animal shelters and rescue centers, including those with no-surrender policies, have seen dramatic increases in the numbers of relinquished pets from families that can’t afford to keep their animals. A number of shelters, which often rely on donations and fundraisers to pay for staffing, animals’ medical needs and other basic necessities for pets, have seen a marked decrease in funds.
