PIERRE — A body was removed from the Pierre Post Office Sunday evening, hours after police responded to an early afternoon incident.

Authorities have refused to give additional information, citing an ongoing investigation. Around a dozen law enforcement officers, including an FBI agent, and Hughes County Coroner Rob Fines were on the scene.

Police responded to an incident at approximately 4 p.m. Sunday at the post office. They quickly closed down Pierre Street between Pleasant Drive and Sioux Avenue and cordoned off the post office with police tape.

" It is tragic. I know. It happened to an immediate family member of ours. You never get over it. You go to bed and wake up every day praying to God you have enough strength to not let that happen to you or any other loved ones in your family. Pray it never happens to you. And pray for that family! "

" Forget race; suicide continues to be a Pierre problem. There needs to be prevention programs and an understanding why Pierre has such a high percentage/capita of suicides. "

" To yopali: Why in the world would you make that comment....GROW UP AND GET OVER IT! It's that way of thinking that will always continue to cause trouble in this world. It makes me sick to hear words as yours. I truly feel sorry for you...... May God Bless you. "

From what you wrote you appear to be very racist. The same info would have been released if the victim were black, white, brown, red or green "

" I was speaking to the fact that a person passed and the need for MORE information wasn't actually necessary. Some people have an insatiable need to know every detail. As for racism, history speaks to that fact. J. Brown, Esq., through his life's work spoke to that issue, as well. "

    " A tragedy.

Out of respect for his family, is more information really needed? That a man passed should be enough information. "
