Harlin J. Lappe, 88, of Pierre, died Tuesday, June 24, at St. Mary’s Hospital. Visitation is from noon to 2 p.m. on Friday, at Isburg Funeral Chapel, with funeral services beginning at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Pierre.

Harlin J. Lappe was born March 21, 1921, near Harrold to August and Evaline (Hoefer) Lappe.

He grew up and attended country school near Harrold, and married Mary Taylor at the Onida Courthouse July 1, 1942. He and Mary farmed and raised their family on the old family farm near Harrold.

Harlin moved to Pierre in 1978 after retiring from farming.

His hobbies included wood working, leather work and making billfolds.

Harlin is survived by his son Jerry Lappe and his wife Alma, of Pierre, and his daughters Kay Parks and Karen Lappe, both of Pierre. He is also survived by one brother, Alvin Lappe, of Rapid City, three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, three brothers, two grandsons and one son-in-law.
