WASHINGTON — U.S. Senator Tim Johnson, D-S.D., announced that the State of South Dakota will receive a $333,100 federal grant from the United States Department of Justice. The grants, from DOJ’s Juvenile Accountability Block Grants Program, will be used to strengthen the juvenile justice system and make youth more accountable
“We need to make every effort to keep our children from turning to crime. These behaviors tear families and communities apart and we need to invest in their future now,” said Johnson. “This will help deter our youth from committing crimes.”

The goal of the program is to reduce juvenile offending through accountability-based programs focused on both the offender and the juvenile justice system.
