" Your comment that Fort Pierre residents want this to go away is way off base. I am a Ft Pierre resident and myself and many others are just as mad that nothing has been done. I am sure there are a few (those responsible and such) that would like it to go away... but I don't think it will. I promise you this though.. my votes are changing at the next election. Someone plz step up to the plate.. Justice For Dually!!!! "

I think our Sheriff's Office is the finest in the area and that they are doing and have done what needs to be.
Let me guess you are innocent and such a fine outstanding citizen...GET OVER IT. Stay with the story at hand...Dually is the victim not you.

" It is amazing to me that no one in this town will step up to the plate and do the right thing. Surely the person(s) who did this horrible thing have gloated to someone. What happened to the person who led Wendy to her horse in the first place. How did this person know so much? I don't think the people in charge realize how the rodeo world is staying on top of this and wanting justice. If they think this will go away, they are sadly mistaken. "

And if you donated to her - did you ask that you be given an accounting of how your money was spent???? Jeezz I don't care if her vet bill is comp'd by the vet and she kepps all the money and buys girl scout cookies! I gave from my heart and if you didn't shame on you and no you are not getting a refund or a listing of who gave what or how much!!!! "

We want the names of the suspects and some details of the case, then I will be more patient in waiting for an arrest. "

" Now we have an update on Dually but we still dont know if he was abused and how would anybody know how much the vet bill was or how much money she has received? i am a horse owner and injuries happen everyday. And I do know how much it cost for a vet bill!!!!!!!!!! "

Why doesnt... wrote on Aug 12, 2009 10:58 AM:

" I suppose that Wendy cant talk about it. She doesnt need anything turned around, misunderstood, or false info. getting out. I dont know her, just speculation. There is a criminal investigation going on. So far we all are just looking in, all opinions and theories. Nothing of consiquence in a trial, but it the the horses owner spoke out, that would be different. I suppose she isnt talking for the same reasons Mahr isnt talking, the investigation(which is slow-I totally agree) isnt over. Just my 2 cents.
I do absolutely disagree with comments about the donations stopping, that is awful. "

And they excpet the "person(s)" involved to get their stories straight? What about the police/investigators? Which street was it? They are on the opposite ends of town! "

to hearsay wrote on Aug 11, 2009 11:18 PM:

" Dually was just released on August 5th was at the vets for an entire month. There how is that for an update. Read the paper. The donations probably won't even come close to what she owes in vet bills. So I highly doubt she left her beloved horse their to rack up some donation money. Seriously "

" Maybe Mr. Maher should go talk to the Vet that has been caring for Dually for the past month and get his thoughts of Dually's injuries, as well as how severe the injuries were. Funny, none of these stories has had any comments from the vet. On any note, I was glad to read the article that Dually was finally able to go home. "

Those horses are our life-they are like family. One month later and he's still at the clinic-if he was fine, I doubt she would just leave him there to board. Im sure she will be thrilled the first day he gets to come home. "

I think she is holding out as long as possible so the donations keep coming in before the whole truth comes out. "

Rapid City they had a doctor missing and they ask for help finding him the NEXT DAY and luckly he has been found already and is alive. If they would have waited a month he might have been found dead.
You wonder why people are making threats about the people who did this. I hope they are found in the same shape that Dually was found. As long as they do is in St.County nothing will be done. "

It sounds like the suspects are pretty sure of themselves. Who are they or should I say who are their parents that they feel so safe. Is money doing the talking? They should never have been allowed to roam free this long. This is a disgrace. I am still waiting for the arrests. watching in ND. "

Upon the public calling with additional information, it will take another 6-8 months to investigate every lead.....and you know "someone" seen and heard....public pressure will keep this case alive, check back often and keep the comments coming. It makes no sense to read the paper "arrests expected next week" and now this, asking for additional information.

    Which is it?
They know who did it do something about it. Or you lgoing to just drag it out and do nothing about it.
If this was the old west we know wha they did with horse theives. I cant say it because then they wouldn't print this. "

" It concerns me that Stanley County is just now looking for witnesses in this case. It's been over 4 weeks since this happened and only now they're looking for informaiton. I truly believe the idea is to drag it out until we stop talking about it and then let it drop so the local people don't get charged. We cannot let that happen. At the very least, theft was involved. This should have been handled about 3 weeks ago. "
