Cheryl A. Schalde, 63, of Canistota, died Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009, in the Canistota Good Samaritan Home.

Graveside services will be Thursday, Oct. 15 in the Black Hills National Cemetery, in Sturgis.

Cheryl A, Lemcke, daughter of Christian and Julia (Ward) Lemcke was born Nov. 10, 1945, in Pierre. She grew up in Pierre and graduated from Pierre High School. She then went on to nursing school and became an RN. She served in the U.S. Navy from 1970 to 1974 as an RN.

She married John A. Schalde in 1974. They lived in the Philippines for several years and then moved to Denver.

During her lifetime, she enjoyed doing craft work and watching her son play sports. She also enjoyed being with her family.

She is survived by her son, John and wife Danae, of Sioux Falls; a granddaughter, Arabella; and two sisters, Lorraine (Elmer) Koehn, of Mesa, Ariz., and Jan Spilde, of Aurora, Colo.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, James, Delaine, and Norlin Lemcke.
