Punked out in Pierre Shawna Bleecker | Capital Journal Editor's note: The all-ages rock show scheduled for Nov. 7 at Performance Auto in Pierre has been cancelled. Another performance has not been scheduled at this time.
PIERRE — Odd colored and multi-colored hair might show up for another weekend in Pierre — but it’s not because people missed out on Hallwoeen. Two Sioux Falls bands — Hollander and The Rubber Gloves — are coming to Pierre to put on an all-ages show, which starts at 7 p.m., Nov. 7, at Performance Auto, 3100 Airport Road. "We try and make it back to Pierre about once a year to play," Hollander’s guitarist Bryon Middleton said. "We have somewhat of a fan base there." Middleton, who grew up in Pierre and graduated from Riggs in 1996, knows what he is talking about when he said, "Pierre is great place. There is a lot to do in summer, but unfortunately in the winter it can get kind of boring." As a teen, Middleton saw punk-rock bands at all-ages shows in Pierre. "Bands like Diseased started putting on all ages shows then other do-it-yourself bands on tour would come through and play," Middleton said. "That was something we always went to." "Kids nowadays basically have access to all the music in the world for free," lead singer and guitarist for The Rubber Gloves John Holt said. "But that doesn’t bring concerts any closer to the middle of nowhere." The all-ages rock show is alcohol free and everyone is invited. |
