Submissions policies
The Capital Journal welcomes letters to the editor, but reminds writers that due to space restrictions, there is a 300-word limit.
• Letters are subject to editing for length, clarity, grammar and taste. Letters must include the writer’s address and daytime telephone number for verification. We won’t publish letters that aren’t signed, “open letters” to third parties, or letters submitted to a wide variety of other publications. We won’t publish poetry or consumer complaints.
• We welcome all letters. We won’t promise publication, but we do publish most of the letters we receive. We reserve the right to reject letters for publication, and limit frequent letter writers.
• Letters must be signed with the writer’s home address and telephone number included so submitted letters can be checked for authenticity. The writer’s address/telephone will not be published.
