PIERRE — Planning is under way for a cookies and coffee reception at the state Capitol on Dec. 8 for Gov. Mike Rounds after his budget address to the Legislature. The purpose is to honor Rounds for his selection as the incoming president for the national Council of State Governments organization.
The outgoing CSG president is West Virginia Gov. Joe Manchin III. According to CSG executive director David Adkins, Gov. Rounds takes over the presidency on Jan. 1, 2010.
CSG held its 2009 annual conference last weekend at La Quinta resort in California. Its spring 2010 conference is scheduled for New York City in May, and its 2010 annual conference is set for Providence, Rhode Island, next December. Rounds will preside at the New York City and Providence meetings.
