Not tooting his own horn

Gov. Mike Rounds told reporters Monday he wasn't going to take a victory lap in his State of the State speech today.
"I'm trying to stay away from that," he said. "I'm not going to let the State of the State become simply a statement of successes for me. I want this to be a recognition of the successes this legislative body has had."
So far Rounds has mostly focused on accomplishments made over the past seven years he's been in office. He's been saying "we" instead of "I", and including the legislature as the people responsible for the accomplishments. But it still does feel a little like a victory lap.
