The Senate, which had barely mustered a quorum of 18 members with the late arrival of Sen. Mike Vehle, just followed the House's example and adjourned after deferring all action — even the consent calendar.

Another tidbit, from Lt. Gov Daugaard:"There was a group of AARP members scheduled to be here tomorrow, but that's been cancelled. The food will still be here, however."

" Actually, most of the missing legislators were Democrats (on account of most of them being from East River, which was hardest hit Monday). I think there were three Democratic senators present by my count? So Democrats should perhaps be grateful the legislature didn't vote on anything; the GOP could have passed whatever they wanted. "

" Say, just thinking: if the Dems had organized a snowmobile caravan and arranged to get everyone of their members there today, could they have outnumbered the GOP, held a majority in the minimal quora, and staged a coup (or at least passed all of Frank Kloucek's bills)? :-) "
