Sen. Scott Heidepriem's campaign is out today with a press release declaring he raised around $339,000 for his gubernatorial campaign in 2009.
According to the Heidepriem press release, Heidepriem's totals date from his formal declaration as a candidate, which was filed with the Secretary of State's office on July 27, 2009.
The Heidepriem camp is spinning this as a record for an off-year trumping Jim Abbot's $136,680 in 2001.
This is the first gubernatorial candidate fundraising numbers for this reporting period I've seen. It'll be interesting how Heidepriem's numbers compare to the various Republican candidates. The Republicans are, of course, handicapped by their divided field with five declared candidates so far, while Heidepriem has only one Democratic rival, ex-legislator Ron Volesky.
Heiepriem also has the disadvantage of less time to raise money than some of the Republicans.
