I'm apparently not on the Daugaard campaign's media email list, but I see from near-simultaneous posts on
Bob Mercer's and the
Daily Republic's blogs that Lt. Gov. Dennis Daugaard raised more than $700,000 for his gubernatorial campaign in 2009, giving him $1.2 million cash on hand.
The only other gubernatorial candidate whose numbers I've seen is Democrat Scott Heidepriem. The Senate Minority Leader raised $339,000 in 2009, though Heidepriem was only fundraising from July 2009 while Daugaard (and Republican rivals Dave Knudson and Scott Munsterman) had the whole year to fundraise.
(That doesn't mean you can assume Heidepriem would have raised at the same rate all year, of course. That's an unknown.)
