In a conference call with reporters, Sen. Dave Knudson just said he raised "in excess of $500,000" for his gubernatorial campaign in 2009.
That's less than his Republican primary rival Lt. Gov. Dennis Daugaard, who
pulled in $710,000. It beats more than Democratic Sen. Scott Heidepriem raised in around half the year — the Senate Minority Leader
collected $339,000 since declaring in late July.
Knudson had the whole year to fundraise, having filed for his candidacy on
Dec. 22, 2008 (PDF).
Knudson didn't have a final number but said Daugaard will definitely "be in first place."
