Knuppe filed his candidacy in July 2008, so this fundraising represents an entire year.
This certainly looks bad compared to the $500,000 Dave Knudson pulled in or the $700,000 flowing into Dennis Daugaard's coffers. But it doesn't necessarily mean, as Badlands Blue gleefully suggests, that Knuppe's candidacy is done.

It'll be tough for him to win with that kind of money. But it's enough to keep him going, traveling across the state and getting his name out with inexpensive newspaper advertising. During the year, Knuppe spent $6,639.71 on advertising, $1,400 on consulting, $806.93 on postage, $667.13 on printing and $3,193.66 on travel.
Once Daugaard, Knudson, and possibly Scott Munsterman (whose fundraising isn't up yet) start putting TV ads up, it'll be an uphill climb for Knuppe to sway voters. But $14,000 can pay for a lot of gasoline to meet a lot of people around the state and pamphlets to hand out to them.

He's one of those rare people who I believe can become politicians without losing their integrity or their values.
I really like the platform that he's running on and I think that his low fundraising just goes to show how great of a guy he is.
An election shouldn't be about how much money you earned with fundraisers. "
