If you do, better break out your checkbook. This Wednesday in Pierre by the American Legion cabin is the second annual Polar Plunge event, part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run fundraising drive for the Special Olympics.

Ten hardy souls have volunteered to jump fully clothed into the icy Missouri Wednesday for charity. For every $2,500 donated, another person will make the jump. Daugaard gets to stay dry unless the $25,000 threshold is reached.

This year's full list, with the donation threshold needed for them to jump:

Sen. Scott Heidepriem, D-Sioux Falls, jumps into the icy Missouri River last year at the first annual Polar Plunge fundraiser for the Special Olympics.

$2,500: Joel Parry, Brookings Police Department

$5,000: Monte Farnsworth, Traffic Services Coordinator

$7,500: Bob Grandpre, Pierre Chief of Police

$10,000: Kelly Marnette, Hughes County State's Attorney

$12,500: Bryan Gortmaker, Director of the Division of Criminal Investigation

$15,000: Sen. Sandy Jerstad, D-Sioux Falls

$17,500: Rep. Joni Cutler, R-Sioux Falls

$20,000: Marty Jackley, Attorney General

$22,500: Sen. Gordon Howie, R-Rapid City, candidate for governor

$25,000: Lt. Gov. Dennis Daugaard, candidate for governor

Last year politicians making the jump included Cutler and Sen. Scott Heidepriem (pictured above). Sen. Dave Knudson and Daugaard were on the list but remained dry because the fundraising didn't reach the top. Government officials making the plunge included Gortmaker, Public Safety secretary Tom Dravland, Game Fish & Parks Secretary Jeff Vonk and Highway Patrol head Dan Mosteller.
