Work crews are expected to have the footings and foundation in place by late January so that the historic Fort Pierre railroad depot can be brought back to the city as early as February.
That’s the latest on the depot restoration project, which advertised for bids on page B3 of the Capital Journal’s issue of Thursday, Dec. 27, on the next phase of the project, which calls for moving the structure. The bids will be opened Jan. 18 and presented with a recommendation to the Fort Pierre City Council at its Jan. 21 meeting, said Gary Grittner, who chairs the Bring It Home Committee.
