SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — Fewer than 75 percent of South Dakota college freshmen return for a second year, a retention rate below the national average that higher education officials say they’re trying to strengthen.
“It’s a high priority. We’re working on it. We don’t expect high improvement right away,” said Jack Warner, director of the South Dakota Board of Regents.
