On Jan. 1, the Capital Journal asked residents to start the year off with some of their favorite photos for our Community Art in Dakota Life, and two people stepped up with great shots from around the area.
Bev Smedley got to work right away and submitted three photos the next day — two from The Izaak Walton League and one near the causeway. Smedley's photo near the causeway shows an excellent close-up of frost forming on a tree.
She said more photos would come as she is typically out on the weekend. We're looking forward to publishing more at the Capital Journal.
Randall Royer also sent a great photo of two eagles perched in a tree at Oahe Downstream.
The Capital Journal extends its thanks to Royer and Smedley for the photos and hopes to see more in the future.
We also hope to see more from other people around Pierre, Fort Pierre and central South Dakota. Photos don't have to stick to a single topic to get into Community Art. All you need to do is include when and where you took the photo and your name.
If you have photos to share with your community, send them to Editor Jorge Encinas at firstname.lastname@example.org and the Capital Journal will publish them in the Saturday Dakota Life section and online at capjournal.com.
