The Pierre Senior Center conducted its weekly Thursday noon Potluck, Nov. 12. Nearly 30 members and guests attended.
According to the center’s Don Zeller, the entertainment included 20-question quizzes. The first was about cakes and the second about words starting with ‘Can.’ The quizzes and answers are available at the Pierre Senior Center.
“We watched three video salutes for our veterans. The first video was Lee Greenwood’s song ‘God Bless the USA’” The second was a medley of the theme songs for the Army, Navy, Coast Guard, Air Force, and Marine Corps, with each of these videos showing the words to each song on the center’s big screen as well as beautiful pictures in the background related to each military service. The third video was a beautifully sung version of “God Bless American,” also with the song words and beautiful pictures,” said Zeller.
“Next week (Nov. 19) we will have our annual Turkey dinner, followed by the drawing for our raffle prizes,” Zeller said. “The prizes include gift certificates from Cattleman’s Club, State 123 Theatre, one night stay at My Place hotel, River Cities Transit, Lynn’s Dakotamart, Kangas Weaving, Don’s Sinclair and Walmart. Tickets are $5 each, or 5 for $20 — ask a Center member or stop by the Center.”
The Center is closed Thanksgiving Day. Zeller is looking for entertainment for the Dec. 3 meeting; volunteer by calling 605-224-7730.
Last Tuesday, Pat Huisman held a workshop with Linda Glover, Jeannie Davis, Mae Roshone and Sharon McEntaffer. They learned how to make birthday and Christmas cards. They said that they had lots of fun, were glad they took the class, and found it to be relaxing and rewarding.
