The Pierre T.F. Riggs Governors boys and girls soccer teams played the Harrisburg Tigers at the PILC Soccer Complex in Pierre on Thursday. The Govs were unable to win either varsity game.

The Tigers girls defeated the Govs 2-0. They got goals from eighth grade midfielder Regina Stoeser and sophomore midfielder Madeline Scott. The Tigers had 13 shots, while the Govs had just three shots. Govs senior goalkeeper Jenna Gehring had five saves in the loss.

The Tigers boys defeated the Govs 2-1. Govs junior forward Rylan Derry gave the Govs a 1-0 lead in the second half, but that was answered by goals by Tigers senior midfielder Seth Stanga and junior midfielder Max Bates. The Tigers were able to hold off any remaining Govs attacks to get the victory.

The Govs girls fall to 6-2, while the Govs boys are 4-3-1. They will next see action against the Brandon Valley Lynx girls (5-1-1) and boys (2-4-1) on Saturday in Brandon. The boys game is scheduled to start at noon CT, while the girls game will start at 2 p.m. CT.
