The Pierre T.F. Riggs Governors girls tennis team hosted the Spearfish Spartans at Griffin Park in Pierre on Saturday in a small version of the regularly three-day Pierre Girls Tennis Invitational Tournament.

The Govs defeated the Spartans 9-0/ They won all six singles matches, and all three doubles matches. A singles match highlight was Pierre’s Jocelyn Corrales defeating Spearfish’s Ava Iszler, 10-0. In doubles action, Corrales and Caitlin Ott defeated Iszler and Lindsey Huck, 10-0. The duo of Marlee Shorter and Gracie Zeeb defeated Ella Iszler and Laura Frost, 10-0. Saturday’s matches were the final matches at home for seniors Claire Koenecke, Carissa Ott and Gracie Zeeb.

The Govs will next see action on Tuesday at the ESD Tournament at the Huron Tennis Courts in Huron. Action is scheduled to start at 8 a.m. CT.
