The Stanley County Buffaloes volleyball team hosted the Highmore-Harrold Pirates at Parkview Gymnasium in Fort Pierre on Friday. The visiting Pirates won in five sets, 3-2. Set scores were 25-13, 21-25, 21-25, 25-21 and 15-10.

Senior Jordyn Sosa led the Buffs with 12 kills and five blocks. Senior Carlie O’Conner had 10 kills, 13 digs and two aces, while junior Olivia Chase had 23 assists, 31 digs and two aces. Senior Taylee Stroup had 23 digs, while senior Shaylee Tople had 20 digs. Sophomore Cadence Hand had 14 digs while junior Kori Gabriel had two aces.

Senior Letha Jessen led the Pirates with 15 kills, five blocks and two aces. Senior Grace Knox had 13 kills and four aces while senior Alex Roth had 12 kills.

The Pirates (17-9, no. 4 in Region 2B) will next see action on Tuesday against the rival Miller Rustlers (18-12, no. 3 in Region 2B) at the Hyde County Memorial Gymnasium in Highmore. Matches are scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. CT.

The Buffs (12-12, no. 3 in Region 6A) hosted the Jones County Coyotes (15-8, no. 4 in Region 7B) at Parkview Gymnasium in Fort Pierre on Monday. Matches had not been completed at press time.
