The family of a young woman killed in the July 8 vehicle crash in Pickstown along with a colleague issued a statement Thursday saying the family applauds the decision by a Charles Mix County Grand Jury to add “more serious, additional counts” against the man charged in connection with their daughter’s death.
“We look forward to a vigorous criminal prosecution of this case and fully support the Attorney General’s office and the State’s Attorney in Charles Mix County,” the
family of Meagan Spindler said in an email signed by Gregg Spindler, Meagan’s father.
Ronald Ray Fischer of Lake Andes had been originally charged with two counts of vehicular homicide. The state has announced additional charges.
The statement issued by the Spindlers also calls upon Gov. Dennis Daugaard, the South Dakota Senate and the Legislature “to take definitive action which makes the state ‘best in class’ with DUI enforcement and prevention.
