The Pierre City Commission seats of Blake Barringer and Vona Johnson will be up for grabs on June 7. Both incumbents said at Tuesday's meeting that they will be seeking re-election.

"I just really love being able to give back to the community," Johnson said. "I feel that we have a lot of things going on, and I have a vested interest in seeing that the pool gets done and I would really like to see the rental housing come to fruition some way or another and just learning new roles with public safety and I just want to, if the citizens will allow me, I'd love to continue to serve the community in this capacity."

Barringer said he would like to see the big-ticket projects the city has ongoing come to fruition with the same commission.

"I'd like to also work on some more projects that might involve our youth in town," Barringer said. "There's still some needs out there."
