Deborah K. Witlock, 68, Pierre, died Monday, January 23, 2023, at the Bowdle Hospital. Memorial services will be 11 a.m., Monday, January 30, 2023, at Lutheran Memorial Church, Pierre, led by Pastor Craig Wexler. Musicians will be Michelle Mueller, Jennifer Kelsey, and Lori Koenecke.
Deborah Kaye Witlock, daughter of Anne (Mueller) and John Witlock, Jr., was born June 30, 1954, at Mobridge. She was brought up near Java and attended Java Public School, graduating with the Panther Class of 1973. She then relocated to Pierre where she lived the rest of her life. She was employed at the state capitol for 48 years, retiring in June 2021. Deb first was employed at the Department of Public Safety, then the Secretary of State’s office, and she retired from the Office of South Dakota Retirement. She was a member of Lutheran Memorial Church where she served on the Stewardship Committee. Deb’s favorite times were spent socializing with friends over a cup of coffee or a beer and spending time with family and friends.
Deb is survived by her mother, Anne, currently at the Bowdle Nursing Home; two brothers, Dave (Viv) Witlock of Selby and Doug (Evie) Witlock of Aberdeen; two sisters, Becky Witlock of Java, and her twin, Denise (Rollie) Anderson of Kennebec; brother-in-law, Arden Gilbert of Aberdeen; nine nieces and nephews; and 18 great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, John, on March 20, 1982; her sister, Jeanne Gilbert, on September 10, 2014; her grandparents, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Honorary bearers will be all of Deb’s friends.
Urn bearers will be Courtney Anderson of Virginia Beach, VA, and Jared Anderson of Pierre.
Deb’s Church Service will be livestreamed at the Lien Family Funeral Care Facebook page and be available Tuesday at www.MillerLienFH.com.
