As I watched the Pierre commission meeting I was appalled at how two lifelong residents of Pierre were treated, Mr. Gilkerson and Rounds. Their request was simple send in our paperwork to the Corp to get the process started and while that is going on we will work out the details on the additional information the city needs. These two men were treated with very little respect and at times the city commission was laughing at them.
It appears the city would rather give a sales tax break to new businesses then work with existing residents. The city’s attorney tried to stall the process even further and it was apparent that Commissioner Mehlhaff never did get his questioned answered by the attorney.
It is time that the commission start listening to the taxpayers instead of advancing their own agendas.
