The Stanley County Buffaloes and Highmore-Harrold Pirates girls basketball teams played each other at the Hyde County Memorial Auditorium in Highmore on Tuesday. The Pirates won 52-22.
The Buffs held a 15-13 lead early in the second quarter. The Pirates ended the half on an 8-0 run to take a 21-15 lead into halftime. The Pirates kept up the momentum by outscoring the Buffs 20-0 in the third quarter. They put the finishing touches on their win by outscoring the Buffs 11-7 in the fourth quarter.
Senior center Jordyn Sosa led the Buffs with eight points, while senior guard Taylee Stroup added seven points. Senior forward Letha Jessen led the Pirates with 22 points, while senior forward Grace Knox had 11 points.
The Buffs (1-5) will next see action against the McLaughlin Mustangs (3-3) in McLaughlin on Thursday. Games are scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m. CT.
