Several sports meetings and camps are coming to the Pierre and Fort Pierre area in the coming days and months.
The Pierre Tennis Association will have a meeting on Wednesday from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Riggs High Library. Topics of discussion will include this summer’s Capital City Open Tennis Tournament.
There will be a brief meeting at 3:15 p.m. in the Pierre T.F. Riggs High School commons area for boys in grades 7-12 that are interested in playing high school soccer for the Govs next season.
Cross country athletes and their parents that are interested in running with the Pierre T.F. Riggs cross country team will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Monday at Riggs High Library. Topics of discussion include summer training and expectations for next season.
The Stanley County Young Buffs Basketball Camp will be held May 28-30 at Parkview Gymnasium in Fort Pierre. This camp is for athletes grades 3-8. Registration fee is $30, and the registration deadline is May 24. Athletes will learn the fundamentals needed to become an all-around player within the team concept.
The Nebraska Wrestling Camp will be held June 24-26 at Parkview Gymnasium in Fort Pierre. This camp is for athletes from the age of 7, to seniors in high school. Registration fee for athletes ages 7 years old to the sixth grade is $65, or $60 if pre-registered by June 24. Registration fee of athletes in grades 7-12 is $75, or $70 if pre-registered by June 24. Athletes will be coached by Mark Manning, who is the head wrestling coach at the University of Nebraska, and Eric Montoya, who is a Nebraska assistant wrestling coach.
The Lady Buffaloes Volleyball Camp will be held on July 15-16 at Parkview Gymnasium in Fort Pierre. This camp is for athletes in grades 4-9. Registration fee is $30, and the registration deadline is June 1.
