The Class 9B All-State team was revealed on Wednesday. The team was voted on by the South Dakota Football Coaches Association. Sully Buttes senior lineman Jesse Schall was the lone local area athlete named to the team.

Schall has been a four-year starter on the offensive line. He had 76 tackles and 25 assisted tackles for the Chargers.

“We moved him around on our offensive line this year, and we followed him no matter where he played,” Chargers coach Mark Senftner said. “We moved him around on the defensive line, too. He has a quick first step that led him to many tackles. Jesse was relentless on the defensive line. He ran many plays down, and played from sideline to sideline.”

The Chargers’ season ended in a 34-0 loss to the Alcester-Hudson Cubs in the first round of the Class 9B playoffs.

A highlight of the Class 9B All-State team is the inclusion of five members of the Potter County Battlers. Those players are senior quarterback Grant Luikens, senior wide receiver Drake Bassett, senior defensive lineman Colt Wieseler, senior linebacker Cooper Logan and junior offensive lineman Alex Tanner. Dell Rapids St. Mary senior offensive lineman John Pica was the All-American nominee.
